Arrive at business meetings on time. Punctuality is important.
Shake hands with the group – including ladies – when you arrive
Try not to be too loud and outspoken
Try not to use excessive hand gestures!
Switch off your mobile phone and do not take a call during the meeting. Your attention should be focussed on the business in hand
Humour is acceptable and not seen as unprofessional
Gifts are not usually exchanged in business meetings
Jackets and ties are still considered to be the appropriate dress for a business meeting but do check with your host
Be aware that meetings may begin with “small talk” to start the meeting in an harmonious manner
Be polite!
